My in-person tutoring rate is $50 for 45 minutes or $60 for 1 hour. With 20 years of experience teaching the Ontario curriculum, I provide expert, individualized instruction tailored to each student’s needs. You are learning from a certified teacher who understands not only what students need to learn, but how to teach it effectively, ensuring your child receives high-quality, meaningful support. I also offer virtual tutoring at $45/hour. Small group (2-3 children) in-person rates are $35/hour per child. Families/caregivers are responsible for arranging the small groups. Small group virtual sessions are $25/hour per child.
I am an experienced educator with over 20 years of teaching experience across multiple grade levels. I am trained in Orton-Gillingham structured literacy and UFLI, both research-backed approaches proven to support struggling readers, including students with dyslexia and other learning differences. I have also taught and can provide tutoring support to all grades from K-8 in any subject (except French).
My tutoring is highly individualized and based on evidence-based structured literacy approaches, including Orton-Gillingham and UFLI. Rather than using a one-size-fits-all program, I assess each child’s specific needs and create lessons tailored to how they learn best. Also, I am not a tutoring center. What your child gets is individualized, one-on-one attention and time with a real, trained teacher.
Not at all! While my training is highly effective for students with dyslexia, these structured literacy approaches benefit all struggling readers and writers. I support students who need extra help building foundational skills, confidence, and academic independence.
Each student begins with an informal assessment that helps identify strengths and areas of need. Lessons are then carefully planned, structured, and adjusted regularly based on your child’s progress to ensure they are always learning at the right pace.
One of the guiding principles of the Orton-Gillingham approach is, “Go as fast as you can, but as slow as you must.” Learning to read takes time, and it should never feel rushed. I meet each student where they are and move at a pace that supports real skill growth. With direct instruction, individualized lessons, and dedicated one-on-one attention, students are given the support they need to succeed.
For literacy intervention, students should participate in two lessons per week for optimal results. Studies consistently show that at least two 60-minute sessions weekly are essential for students to gain the full benefit of remedial literacy instruction. For regular homework aid, getting help once a week should suffice.
I am available for tutoring and reading sessions on weekdays after 5pm and on weekends. I can also work with your schedule to find a time that works for both of us.
Many tutoring services use worksheets and lessons straight from a program or workbook. I believe learning should never be one-size-fits-all. Every lesson is carefully created by me to meet each student’s unique needs, while also reviewing past learning to build strong, lasting skills. Our sessions also include interactive and hands-on activities that make learning enjoyable and engaging.
